|May 20 10:32 AM PT11:32 AM MT12:32 PM CT1:32 PM ET13:32 ET17:32 GMT1:32 10:32 AM MST12:32 PM EST1:02 PM VEN21:32 UAE12:32 PM CT-Quintana allowed one run on one hit and one walk in 8.0 innings as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Seattle Mariners 2-1 on Friday. Quintana struck out seven, ending the game with a 3.92 ERA and 1.26 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: In four of Quintana's nine starts this year, the White Sox haven't scored a single run while he was on the mound. As good as he was Friday night, for much of his outing it appeared he'd once again fall victim to a lack of offense as Chicago stayed scoreless through the first five innings. Quintana became just the second pitcher in the majors to pitch at least eight innings, allow just one hit and end up with a no-decision. It's his 61st no-decision since 2012.

Analysis: After posting a lousy 6.17 ERA while losing each of his first four 2017 starts, Quintana has bounced back with two strong outings - though both came against the scuffling Royals. A likely tougher test awaits the lefty Sunday at Baltimore's Camden Yards, where he's 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA in three career starts and has allowed six homers in 17 2/3 innings.

Analysis: Though Quintana did pitch well in a tough-luck defeat to the Twins last week, he now sports a 6.75 ERA through three starts and has walked nine in 17 1/3 innings. Chicago's expected ace will attempt to turn things around in Friday's home start against Cleveland. He went 2-2 with a 2.41 ERA in five 2016 meetings with the Indians.
