His next start is Saturday against a Reds team he faced in his season debut, yielding a run over eight innings on April 7. He has never beaten his former team in five starts, despite posting a 2.84 ERA in his last three matchups.
Apr. 19 7:26 AM PT8:26 AM MT9:26 AM CT10:26 AM ET10:26 ET14:26 GMT22:26 7:26 AM MST9:26 AM EST9:56 AM VEN18:26 UAE9:26 AM CT-Leake continued his strong beginning to the season by holding the Pirates to one run over 6 1/3 innings Tuesday to earn the win in the Cardinals' 2-1 victory. The right-hander scattered seven hits and did not issue a walk.
Analysis: Leake (2-1) has now yielded just two runs in 21 1/3 innings over a string of three straight outstanding starts. The 29-year-old, who went 0-3 with a 6.03 ERA through his first six outings of 2016, will attempt to keep his excellent run going Sunday at Milwaukee's Miller Park, where he won both of his two starts a season ago.

Analysis: Leake, who threw eight innings of one-run ball in his season debut, had lost his last four decisions against Washington but retired 19 batters in a row at one point. "What a great day. Seven shutout innings against this team," manager Mike Matheny said. "The way he did it just seems to be a carryover from what we have seen so far this spring."
