McHugh struck out five, ending the game with a 3.44 ERA and 1.26 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: McHugh pitched effectively after missing time with a right middle finger avulsion. McHugh, making his first start since Sept. 8, was as solid as could be expected given the layoff.
|Sep. 11 8:52 AM PT9:52 AM MT10:52 AM CT11:52 AM ET11:52 ET15:52 GMT23:52 8:52 AM MST10:52 AM EST11:22 AM VEN19:52 UAE10:52 AM CT-McHugh will skip his scheduled start Thursday because of a lingering fingernail issue on his pitching hand. He played catch Tuesday for the first time since leaving his Friday outing.
Analysis: McHugh exited after three innings in his last outing on Sept. 8 after going 2-1 with a 1.21 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in his previous four starts.
|Sep. 8 8:50 PM PT9:50 PM MT10:50 PM CT11:50 PM ET23:50 ET3:50 GMT11:50 8:50 PM MST10:50 PM EST11:20 PM VEN7:50 UAE (+1)10:50 PM CT-McHugh allowed three runs on four hits and one walk before leaving the Astros' 9-8 loss to Oakland on Friday after 3.0 innings due to damage to his right middle fingernail. McHugh struck out one, ending the game with a 3.61 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: McHugh was warming up for the bottom of the fourth inning when an Astros trainer and manager A.J. Hinch came to the mound. After being examined, the right-hander left the game and was replaced by right-hander Michael Feliz. Consider him questionable to make his next start, scheduled for Thursday on the road against the Angels.
|Aug. 31 2:47 PM PT3:47 PM MT4:47 PM CT5:47 PM ET17:47 ET21:47 GMT5:47 2:47 PM MST4:47 PM EST5:17 PM VEN1:47 UAE (+1)4:47 PM CT-Collin McHugh allowed one run - zero earned - on four hits and two walks in 4.2 innings as the Houston Astros defeated the Texas Rangers 5-1 on Thursday. McHugh struck out three, ending the game with a 3.25 ERA and 1.24 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Altnough McHugh allowed just one unearned run, bench coach Alex Cora pulled him one out short of a potential victory. Cora was managing in place of A.J. Hinch, who was ejected by second-base umpire Joe West for arguing a catcher's interference call in the first. McHugh, who has a 1.21 ERA in his last four starts, next takes the ball Tuesday at Seattle.

|Aug. 20 9:32 PM PT10:32 PM MT11:32 PM CT12:32 AM ET0:32 ET4:32 GMT12:32 9:32 PM MST11:32 PM EST12:02 AM VEN8:32 UAE11:32 PM CT-Collin McHugh improved to 1-2, allowing six hits and one walk over 6.0 scoreless innings, as the Houston Astros defeated the Oakland Athletics 3-0 on Saturday. McHugh struck out three, ending the game with a 4.01 ERA and 1.31 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: McHugh needed six starts since coming back from an elbow injury to pick up his first win since last October, though he's mostly pitched well following his return. The right-hander has allowed two runs or less in four of his last five starts, and there should be more victories in his near future.
|Aug. 15 10:43 AM PT11:43 AM MT12:43 PM CT1:43 PM ET13:43 ET17:43 GMT1:43 10:43 AM MST12:43 PM EST1:13 PM VEN21:43 UAE12:43 PM CT-Collin McHugh fell to 0-2, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk in 5.2 innings, as the Houston Astros lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 on Monday. McHugh struck out six, ending the game with a 4.88 ERA and 1.34 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: McHugh pitched effectively in his fifth start since a shoulder injury put him on the 60-day disabled list, but he was outdueled by Arizona ace Zack Greinke. McHugh has given up two runs or fewer in three of his past four starts. He could be a good play Saturday against Oakland, the AL's worst hitting team. McHugh is 6-1 with a 3.02 ERA in nine career starts versus the A's.

McHugh struck out five, ending the game with a 5.32 ERA and 1.36 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: McHugh took a step back after two strong starts - his second and third of the season - but considering he's rebounding from a significant injury, some inconsistency is expected.

McHugh struck out seven, ending the game with a 4.22 ERA and 1.03 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Making his second start of the season, McHugh dominated the Tigers. He's had some really good stretches in the past, so he may be worth a flyer down the stretch.
|July 23 10:10 PM PT11:10 PM MT12:10 AM CT1:10 AM ET1:10 ET5:10 GMT13:10 10:10 PM MST12:10 AM EST12:40 AM VEN9:10 UAE12:10 AM CT-Collin McHugh allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in 4.2 innings as the Houston Astros defeated the Baltimore Orioles 8-4 on Saturday.
