Analysis: It was Nola's second loss in as many starts since missing a month with a lower back strain, not receiving one run of support in both. However, he was much worse in this one after throwing seven innings of one-run ball in his return. Nola next faces the Marlins on Wednesday, and he has a 1.35 ERA in three career starts against them.

Analysis: The right-hander has not surrendered a home run in his last five starts dating to last season. Nola threw 90 pitches Friday, 61 for strikes. "The story to me was Nola," manager Pete Mackanin said. "He gave us five solid innings. I could have sent him out for one more. He pitched well. I think that is going to do a lot for his confidence."
